ART EXHIBITIONS
MARK MASON | RAKU
11 JULY - 24 AUGUST 2025
Mark Mason is a ceramic artist living and working in Castlemaine on Djaara, the lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung. Falling in love with ceramics during his years at Teachers College in the 1970's, Mark has been experimenting and designing ceramic forms ever since. In this exhibition, Mark is showcasing his Copper Matte Raku and Horse Hair Raku works, techniques he has perfected over the years.
He is drawn by the immediate nature and magic of Raku, a way of firing clay developed in early Japan, primarily for the tea ceremony. Mark has developed his own language, with each work a unique expression of the firing process.
